Kentucky Fried Chicken(KFC)

The real-life story of Colonel Harland Sanders who was disappointed umpteen times in his life and still made his dream come true late in his life is really inspiring.

Colonel Harland Sanders – Owner of KFC

He is a seventh grade dropped out who tried many ventures in life but tasted bitter every time. He started selling chicken at his age of 40 but his dream of owning a restaurant was turned down many times due to conflicts and wars.

Later he attempted to franchise his restaurant. His recipe got rejected 1,009 times before the final approval. And soon the secret recipe, “Kentucky Fried Chicken(KFC)” became a huge hit worldwide.

KFC

KFC was expanded globally and the company was sold for 2 million dollars and his face is still celebrated in the logos. Now, KFC is the world’s-largest restaurant chain (as measured by sales) after McDonald’s, with 25,000 locations globally in 145 countries as of December 2021.

COLONEL HARLAND SANDERS’ SUCCESS LESSON

You have to go through failure to get to success:

In the introduction above, I mentioned that Colonel Sanders was rejected more than 1000 times before successfully selling his KFC recipe.

………1000 times!

Not only that, he’d failed at every other career he’d try to get into. Sanders tried and failed miserably at all the below careers between the ages of 10 and 40:

  • Farming
  • Sreetcar Conductor
  • Lawyer
  • Insurance Salesman
  • Railroad Fireman

MORAL: Have you stopped your attempts to a venture or anything in life just because you were rejected or failed a few times? Can you even accept a failure of 1,009 times? This real-life story about Colonel Harland Sanders inspires everyone to try hard and believe in yourself until you see success, despite how many times you have failed. It doesn’t matter whether you are 20 years or 70, never give up on yourself.

Just goes to show that no matter how much failure you experience in life, there’s always still time to be successful. For anyone reading this who thinks it’s too late to make something your life, start re-thinking.
